Hi all,

To follow on what Chris has been writing, lately I have been taking to task the
news announcers on National Radio in New Zealand ( the main non-
commercial radio station).

The last blooper referred to the men on Pitcairn Island who had lost their
appeal to the Privy Council in relation to the sex crimes they have been
convicted for, and the announcer said something like this.

"Having lost their appeal, they will now begin to spend time in the prison on
the island they recently constructed."

I felt like suggesting that if they are that good at creating islands, they
should be sent to Tuvalu and help raise that sinking rock somewhat.

And in case the point I am making is unclear, they did in fact construct the
prison they will now be spending several years in. On Pitcairn Island. New
Zealand is contributing about 12 prison guards to take care of ?? 4 men.

This is not the first time I have pointed out this kind of grammatical error,
but
they previously denied the facts. This time there was no denial, and I have
heard no more of these errors in 4 weeks. :-))

Grammar has not been taught here, for decades.

Brian
