Even looking at the drawing I didn't understand this until I opened the 
lens and realized that the subject slot is a radial slot in the tube. 
CE1573 is L shaped and one leg of the L is sticking through the side of 
the tube.  No way to pull it out other than from the inside and towards 
the center.
