I use hoya pro1 on all my zuiko lenses including 21mm and 24mm wides but
they only go up to 82 or 86mm filter. For the very big front threads e.g.
100-220 bronica zoom I use heliopan.
I use uv filters for several reasons. To protect the front element from
rain, river water etc. I find it easier and safer to clean up a uv filter
then the front element.
The only time I have damaged a front element was when I used to remove the
uv filters for critical shoots and scrapped the front element when I put
the filter back on. Since then I decided to leave the uv in place.
