I firmly believe Norton was instrumental in destroying my last desktop
machine. Can't provide empirical proof, but it seemed to be associated
with every de-rail and hiccup the machine had as it slowly died on me.
Run McAfee on my wife's laptop (only machine I actually have at home
now, as I haven't replaced the dead desktop), have for a year or better
now, it seems to be reliable an trustworthy. Hasn't gummed up the
laptop yet.
I don't think I'd go near Norton again.
