The only team sport I ever enjoyed was Shinty, though being the
unconventional sort I am, I kept getting my feet broken, never my shin bone.
Finally my doc said he wouldn't work on me anymore if I was going to go out
and keep destroying myself doing this.
Some people........ but I trusted no one else to fix my bones, dislocated
fractured or otherwise, so I stopped playing.
Now what was great about Shinty was the rules we played by.
#1, we agreed what the goal posts were
#2 No hands allowed on the ball
#3 act like an asshole, expect team retaliation.
Even I could remember all those rules! Primitive sports for primitive sorts

Some friends of mine spent last Saint Patty's day in a pub in Christchurch,
NZ. Some of the locals were trying to explain the rules of cricket to the
Yanks. After a while they decided there was not enough time available and
they should just have fun eating and drinking. Hell, I might like Cricket if
I understood it. I would like to watch some rugby too as I have a poor
understanding of that also. Like so many other things..... When I plead

Americans know nothing about Cricket, English or otherwise. Nobody seems too
upset about the lack of that knowledge as the game is considered to be
boring. I've never been able to watch it long enough to know. I know

Well, I glad that's solved... my memory is not what it once was..... didn't
