I had a long discussion with my doctor about this one day. He said if you
ran all the tests possible you would bankrupt the system. If you don't do
enough tests something important might be overlooked. The doctors
continually walk that tightrope. /jmac

Exactly my feeling after having been through this.  But what are you
expected to do when your doctor wants you to have MRI?  He is supposed to
know this better than  you, but the fact may be that he is just safeguarding
himself in case the MRI would have revealed something unexpected, so you
could not sue him later for neglectance.
