Thank you. It's amazing what a crop can do. The exact same image
without the crop looked like pond-scum.

Ok, I know you have your tongue firmly planted in your cheek, but
maybe I'll describe my process here to illustrate all of the heavy
manipulations performed.

1. Select the right camera. The OM-2S has a supurb metering system
and was used in AUTO exposure mode with no exposure compensation.

2. Select the right lens. This one was by default. I didn't have any
other wide-angle Zuiko with me. The shift lens was slightly lifted
up to keep the barn walls straight.

3. Select the right filters. Red darkened the sky and the shadows.
The polarizer was used to slightly darken further, but not too much
as to provide more even coverage.

4. Select the right film. In this case, I used Ilford XP-2 which has
an extremely wide shoulder that preserves highlight details.

5. Select the right composition. Well, nothing too technical there.

6. Process in the special C-41 soup at the local Wally-World.
Convince the minimum-wage weekend grunt that even though it says
"Black and White" that she IS able to process it in her machine.

7. Scan images using the Nikon CoolScan V-ED using the Nikonscan
software. No real special settings, although I could have completely
done all of my tonal manipulations there (and probably better). ICE
was the only process done.

8. Open file in Photoshop, adjust tonal curves slightly, crop,
resize, sharpen. Save for web.

9. Upload.

Uh, wait a second. In this particular image, I did use the healing
brush on a couple powerlines crossing the picture. (I buggered up a
tiny spot as I was just slapping this one out).

So, what about the dodging and burning? None. Totally as is.

AG
