I was just thinking that it might be somewhat tedious to have to sort
through lots of junk images. Perhaps one of the library programs will be
adapted for the format card so you can just flag the ones you want to see
when browsing. Of course that would then have to be retained away from the
card (unless some rewritable space was available on the card for this
purpose).

Still an interesting development.

I doubt it. If you can stuff a couple thousand images on a $20 card, what
difference would it make, practically speaking?
