Maybe it's like my Nikon (gasp) where you have to lock the aperture to the
smallest (eg f/22) for the auto modes.  Otherwise you get a friendly error
message on the top LCD: "FEE" causing much concern and a dose of 'help'
messages on the forums (if you're to lazy to RTFM).
