Absolutely. The US had become the #1 industrial power at the turn of the 
century, IIRC. Smart Germans and Japanese knew if the Americans decided to 
fight that would spell major trouble. The Russians also pulled off unbelievable 
feats of industrial output, IIRC. I think it's insane for the US to divest 
itself of its domestic industrial base. - Phil
