Maybe I shouldn't have said they'd take offense. I've just found it to be an
advantage to speak with pretty much the same dialect as the folks I'm dealing
with, whether "down here" or "up there," so they don't take you "fer a
furriner." I can speak New York, too, even a little Brooklyn, if I really have
to. Can't speak the Billy Bragg stuff, though I can easily do John Cleese.
