I treat SS as my inflation protection. I qualify to receive it, but the 
amount goes up each year I wait, so I'm waiting until the pension and 
bits of other work become insufficient, then I'll tap in. And then it's 
indexed, unlike my private pension. And I have to pay for my own health 
insurance, all they do is guarantee it will be available. But then 
Medicare isn't far away and supplemental coverage should be cheaper, I hope.

No complaints. I've been quite lucky, own my house and have a nest egg.

Indeed, I started working at 16, worked my way through college and took 
only one vacation as long as three weeks for just a bit short of 40 
years. Long enough.....
