Firmware revision?
I have a feeling that the roginal firmware did not take advantage of Lexar
Write Acceleration, for example.

I can not explain the difference.I fired the shutter until the buffer was
full (count = 0 on the E-1's top screen, then waited until the count was up
to 12 and the write lamp stopped flashing.
The card was freshly formatted.
