Go for the 50/1.4 or 100mm equivalent.  A good portrait distance for 
that lens on an E-thing would be in the 7-10 foot range which should 
yield chest/head or waist/head size vertical images.  At f/1.4 the depth 
of field at 7 feet is only about 3" and 6" at 10 feet.  Opening up to 
f/2 will get you in the 4-1/2-9" DOF range at 7 and 10 feet and f/2.8 
will get you 6-12" at 7 and 10 feet.

Using the 1.4 with such shallow DOF could be problematic so the 1.8 is 
still a good alternative as it will get you a more readily usable range 
at less cost.
