Nice reply; keep that curmudgeon edge honed. ;-)

Nonetheless, when I look at images as part of a camera evaluation, I am,
oddly enough, interested in those that allow me to see what the camera
is capable of, rather than what the photographer is capable of. so sharp
matters. I'm fully capable of making things unsharp, even, and all too
often, when unintended, but the sharpness limit is set by the camera.

So even if sharpness, low high iso noise, etc. were only important on a
small % of my shots, I would still want to know how cameras I am
considering compare in capability in those areas as a significant part
of the criteria for choice.

Let us know if His Holiness was impressed with your equipment.

Maybe you could take along prints of some of your collection of lingams
appearing in nature?

Seriously, I hope it's a great visit. If it gives you Dalai fever, I
highly recommend from among his endless supply of books *"The Wisdom of
Forgiveness: Intimate Journeys and Conversations", a wonderful opening
into his character and personal beliefs.

Oddly enough, the one time I went to hear him speak, he gave what was
essentially a political speech.
