[OM] Re: OT .net framework

One of our home computers has microsoft .net framework 1.1 AND 2.0 on 
it.  What is this for and is it necessary? Whenever I check for updates, 
there is one available for it and installation always fails.  I'm midway 
getting support from MS on this, regarding getting a successful install. 
  One of the steps they say is to uninstall it first.  Any harm in 
uninstalling it and leaving it uninstalled?
