I believe I emphasised its apparent degree of usefulness as
a "novelty".
That's why I said "For me, I don't consider its manometer
an extremely useful tool, but more of a novelty. I can see
scuba-folk liking its below sea level ability.". I also
referred to the Avocet watch as a "gadget", with the
intention of alluding to all the potential reactions folk
may be associate with that word.
Novelties are fun, and I sometimes enjoy these types of
features when their usefulness aligns with my desires (my
phone has GPS mapping and guidance in it, though its
on-the-go guidance is usual a turn behind usefulness.
