I've disassembled at least one lens with two interior (adjustable) tubes 
joined with a strip of fabric tape.  I don't recall the brand but it 
wasn't a Sigma.  Most likely a Kiron but possibly even a Zuiko.  It 
struck me as a good engineering solution to a lightweight and reliable 
connection for something subjected only to minor, rotational stresses.
