Lets say Olympus owners wanted their E-510 image stabilization to work
with non-digital older lenses that are mounted with an adapter stuck
between. A menu interface where you could enter the focal length would
enable it to work, so lets say Olympus heard their customers and put
that ability in a firmware update. That is listening to customers.

This idea is similar to Pentax getting comments on the desire to be able
to change K10D ISO outside of the menu, and have it always visible on
top LCD so enabled the ability to use either the front or rear dial to
control ISO by next firmware update. Same with adding more abilities to
swap controllability of front/rear dials, also one button pops focus
point back to center from where it was out of the 11, etc. based on
Pentax forum requests. Or request to set SR (shake reduction) focal
length for any manual lens as suggested on forums.

Two Pentax marketing execs post to the forums including DP Review, and
answer questions, take suggestions for future firmware/cameras.

Does this clarify "listening to customers"?

Olympus finally allowed ALL past OM lenses to work with their 4/3
digital cameras in all modes, no stop-down metering, and no adapter?
Great! A nice bit of Maitani-esque ideaology!
I've started to acquire some nice SMC Pentax & Tokina glass from garage
sales and eeebay for my K10D. Its great when a company allows you to do
this without forcing you to schmeckel around with adapters, metering
workarounds, and other abandonment issues.

What does that mean?
