That's Lee Varis' book.  I bought a copy recently -- have enjoyed what 
little of it I've read so far, and his insights are also useful in the 
world of 3D model building, when you're trying to make realistic-looking 
skins as texture maps for a human figure (my other time-consuming hobby).
