CH's complaint of sensor dust in the 5D viewfinder is a big surprise to
me since I've never noticed it. I figured there has to be some so I
just checked it. There are two tiny and very black specks very sharply
in focus which are clearly on the imaging side of the focusing screen.
There are another 1/2 dozen or so very faint, light gray, out of focus
specs of similar size. These must be either on the opposite side of the
screen or on the surface of the pentaprism next to the screen. It's
actually much cleaner than my OM-2s but neither is bad enough that I'm
inspired to run off and clean them.

Perhaps, as Moose suggested, those who are complaining of dust are using
their dust blowers inside the mirror box with the mirror down. There
are probably millions of DSLR owners who now have Rocket blowers that
never had them for their SLR's. I don't do that since it's probably
guaranteed to push dust where you don't want it. But even then it's
still easy to clean off since the screen on a 5D is easily removable
just like an OM screen. If you can see viewfinder dust it can only be
on the screen or adjacent surface of the pentaprism. I do use a blower
on the first pass of sensor cleaning but then the mirror is up and no
dust can be blown into the pentaprism area... at least not easily.

I have not found dust to be a problem with the 5D. My sensor could
stand to be cleaned right now (there's a spot that's been showing up in
clouds and blue sky lately) but I've only ever cleaned it two or three
times before in 18 months of ownership.
