Well said, Moose, prepostions at the end of sentences are an abhorrence "up
with which I will not put" (C) Winston Churchill.

But I am sure it was a momentary lapse on Chris' part (NB non-malapropistic
use of momentary, and a giveaway apostrophe)

I abandoned the fight years ago in those circumstances where old fashioned
correct usage made for graceless reading.

".. mud of which those beaches consist." is the classic, literal correction.
".. mud that makes up those beaches." is more graceful reading.
