Didnt have anything that needed more than 1M until the 386 was out :-)
Liked the NEC chips back then compared to the Intel chips.

I also think that Australia was enough behind compared to US back
then that it wasnt as important here as it was in US. We caught up
more with the advent of the 386, also as most industry used 'stuff'
like MicroVAX's/VAX's here until the big push for desktop computing
took hold around the start of the 90's. The larger IBM customers
used 286's in things like store PS/2's but even they didnt seem to
last long here compared to what came after in the form of 386 PC's.

Keep in mind I'm just talking the Aussie experience here.
