Thanks for that, Ian.  That was very entertaining and I like the  
music, but that pair of chaps has to be seriously deranged.  Flying  
that close to terrain is almost definitely illegal in Switzerland, but  
your margin for error at that altitude is much reduced because of the  
reduced pressure: your inertia is much greater than your ability to  
control your aircraft compared with sea level.

But I did enjoy flying through the French Alps, having taken off from  
Istres-le-Tube to land at Treviso Istrana in Italy, not far from  
Venice.  We flew a 4-ship of Jaguars in 1981 (2 September, in fact) to  
conduct an exchange visit with a Starfighter squadron at Treviso.   
Taking off from Istres was fine, and the Alps were magical (we flew at  
between 250 and 500ft above ground) but dropping into a sea of smog in  
northern Italy was very unpleasant and we soon got split up into 2  
pairs.  We had a fine time at Treviso, though.
