The Linksys adapters mentioned by Moose work great. I have an older  
model, because my home office is quite far from the access point in  
the living room. It makes a big difference. I have never needed to  
travel with it, but it is certainly small and portable enough.

Many of the hotels I have stayed in recently have had an Ethernet  
port in the room instead of wifi. It works great and is faster, of  
course. I now carry a short cable with me when travelling, just in case.
