Hi Jim:

Part marks for you.  Moraine Lake got its name from glacial activity-  
the rock deposits that are gouged up and plowed by an advancing  
glacier is called moraine. So that is a very big clue as to the  
origins of Moraine lake. The advancing Glacier built a 'dam' and the  
retreating Glacier filled it with water.
