As Moose is being tendentious, so shall I.
Time for some biological pedantry.
Thats small 'a' ...alphabeticii... to be correct.
As I remember the '-us' ending incorporates the pluratity of the  
whole genus while a singular species requires a different ending,  
usually '-ii' if named after a non-Latinate place, thing or person.
But then I failed Latin in first form (Grade 7) so I may well be wrong.
Not about the small 'a' though!
