Yup, circa 2004 I used to use them as boot drives on navigation consoles
for US Navy aircraft carriers. The consoles on the bridge had to be
able to withstand an explosive test that involved strapping the console
on the deck of an old barge sitting in water and then setting off a 60
pound dynamite charge in the water next to the barge. The computers had
to stay operating before, during and after the explosion. It was tough
on flat screens (very expensive at the time) but the CF cards were OK. :-)
