I agree.  Ergonomically, the 5D leaves some things to be desired.  Apart 
from the grip I find its most annoying feature to be switching the 
function or the front and rear control dials as it changes modes.  But 
that has spurred me to shoot in manual mode about 95% of the time which 
is probably a good thing.  The camera's saving grace is that it takes 
damned good pictures.
