Seems like I've been lurking in the shadows for years now . . . the
Old-Timers will recognize the name. I'm going back to deep lurking for
now . . . but still may post something occasionally. The company I work
for is one of those in financial extremis and has been for over a year.
Current economic situation isn't helping, but we'll survive. We just
let go somewhere between a fourth and a third of the salaried. I
survived that but was "redeployed" to a new assignment in the process.
Completely different from what I had been doing for over five years and
now I'm drinking from a fire hydrant trying to come up to speed before
Thanksgiving. Translation: some long hours at work during the week.

Haven't abandoned cameras or photography entirely. Here is my latest
home projects documented for a local computer club . . . a fair amount
of "quick and dirty" macros. I won't claim any great artistry . . .
just pure commercial style documentary work to tell the story
(Photobucket slideshow) using a digital P&S for web use:

Another home project from last year. Got a tool case dirt cheap at
Lowe's and converted it into an armored, padded watch case that can hold
about 75% of the watches I've accumulated. Actual watch cases that hold
the quantity this one can cost a small fortune (which I'd rather spend
on other stuff).

Finally, quick & dirty pix of some of the watches in the accumulation (a
collection that's "still in denial"). Some of the pix are better than
others -- photographing jewelry isn't easy -- highly reflective surfaces
that act as mirrors (of undesirable stuff) and more specular highlights
than facets on a cut diamond . . . a lighting nightmare. The first pic
isn't a watch . . . it's a self-portrait done with a cell-phone camera .
. . the cat (Miss Frisky) likes to jump onto my shoulders and perch
there as I move around the house doing things (I was standing in the
middle of our Family room when I made the shot). She can leap from the
floor onto my back in a single bound (a bit startling when she first did
that):
