Depending on where you are staying, you may consider a cab,
or the T. January can be one of the coldest days in Boston, and
if there is wind, very cold. It can also be mild, but anticipate
some cold, and bring some head covering and gloves.

When I want to park in Boston, I have to bring my wife because
she has parking ferries that help her out. The cheapest place is
under the Boston Common, $11, but other places are $22++.
Actually the cheapest place is on the street, but meters
max out a 2 hours, but you also need ferries to find them.

If you are going to be at the Hynes convention center. There is
a parking garage on the west side. There are also T stops there
Copley Plaza is expensive to park at. But you can walk there
from the Hynes and it might be a good place to explore.
At least it is indoors and out of the cold.
There are many good places to get some food along Newbury St
near the Hynes. (back bay area)

If you know where you are staying, that would help in picking
things to do and see. There are a lot of good restaurants, but the
better ones need reservations. Check the Boston area in
http://www.opentable.com/ If you register, you can also make
reservations online. You can tell the better restaurants, as
they book up faster. Depends on what you would like.
Many of the better restaurants have valet parking, which I
recommend. If you go to opentable, select Boston, then you can
select specific areas, like the Back Bay, Faneuil Hall, ...

Many people mention Legal Seafood, but there are many other
restaurants equal or better, depending on where you will be.

Faneuil Hall and Quency Market are over toward the bay, and is also
a good place to explore. If you are there, Kingfish Hall is good
place to eat.

Boston has a lot of interesting photo opportunities, depending on
the weather and subject interest. The Charles River, the

Traffic can be tough if you don't know where you are going, so it
would be good to pick some place, go there by cab or the T and
explore. It is really not an easy place to get around in a car unless
you know the routes to take.
