It should also be noted that as the current drawn from a NiCad
is higher that you would get from a Carbon/Zinc battery then
the NiCad battery will also heat up more, depending on the
amount of additional heat this could lead to battery damage
and chemical leakage from the battery which will of cause
lead to damage to the device the batteries are in. Not to
mention that a hot NiCad battery can also damage the
device with the heat generated.

LiO batteries are worse, hmmm, laptops anyone :-)

You will note that Olympus flashs have recommendations
on the discharge/charge cycles per minute that you should
not exceed if using NiCad and more recent battery types.
Especially if using modern batteries as these need time to
cool down, not just the electronics in the flashs.
