Unfortunately it was cloudy here too - but the general feel of your
image
(including the slight washed-out-ness) reminds me of a similar shot I
made
last year, using my Tokina 800mm lens on my Canon EOS.

The Tokina lens is not great - the colours suck, but it is pretty
sharp, and it
draws beautifully (apart from the bad CA). This was from a motor racing
shoot, at 800mm the subject has to be MASSIVELY far away to even fit
in the
frame without cropping it:

and a crop, to see the old 1960s/1970s bazookha is really not too bad in

On the topic of ultra-telephoto-lenses: Have you ever seen the Tokina
800mm? It's
quite rare, little mention of it on the web, if you are interested,
this is what
it looked like on my Canon Wunderbrick:

I imagine my shot I took would be 10x better with an OM Zuiko 1000mm f/
11 (if one can manage
to actually take a vibration-free shot with that beast) - does anybody
have some images
made with the zuiko? I'd love to see. Though I suspect more people
would have settled for the
600mm.
Lastly: Does anybody have some advice for perhaps mounting the Tokina
on my OM-1?
It appears to have the same (either adaptall, or something like it, I
really don't know
much about the old Tokinas) mount which I have seen on all other old
Tokinas. Basically, some
kind of screw-mount, to which is mounted an adaptor to turn it into an
M42 screw-mount.
Does anybody know if Olympus OM adaptors were available?
Would love to use it on my OM to take some grainy, blurry, 800mm
photos (perhaps
with Delta 3200) with low contrast which I would have to push contrast
in the darkroom for.
Just for the heck of it. Somehow I like the rendering of this lens,
for all its faults.
As it stands now, it's too big for a paperweight! Even better would be
a M42-to-OM adaptor,
what are the flange-to-film distances? Is this even possible?
