The Tokina's screw threads are probably for a "T-mount" which was
developed by Tamron. A T-mount lens has a very long register distance
so that an adapter can be made for almost any camera. Technically, it's
called a T-2 mount but most folks just say T-mount. A T-mount thread
can be easily confused with an M42 mount thread because both are 42mm in
diameter. But the M42 mount is 42mm x 1mm thread pitch and the T-mount
is 42mm x 3/4mm thread pitch. If you're not careful you can foul the
threads trying to screw one into the other as they're pretty close.
Check the diameter of the threads on the Tokina. It's very, very likely
that it's a T-mount. If it is you're in good luck since there's a
T-mount adapter to fit almost any 35mm SLR or DSLR on the planet. You
can find them almost anywhere including ebay.
