What happens if I plug my LED Christmas tree lights (120v) into an
incandescent dimmer switch? I need an in-line on/off switch for the
lights and the only thing I've got handy is a couple of sliding dimmer
switches I used to use to control some large incandescent floods for
photography. I don't need to actually dim the LEDs but it would be nice
to use the in-line on/off switch that's part of the dimmer control.
Seems to me like it should work OK. I assume the dimmer switch is made
with something like a Triac which I think is just a variable frequency
on/off switch.
