The hood you have is indeed a thing of beauty. It is not, however,
typical of Oly metal hoods.
Take a look here.

Numbering from the front, then left to right, 1 & 2 are of the type you
have. 3, 4 & 7, with the sharp edges, are more typical metal hoods and
the rest of those pointing up are metal/rubber hoods.
The really elegant, black and chrome, early metal hoods are slide on
only. All screw-in hoods are of the other designs and many slide on
hoods are also metal/rubber combinations.
Personally, I prefer the combo hoods to the screw-in metal ones,
although for some lenses, metal is all that was made. The metal ones can
get dinged and the paint scratches. The combination ones have a metal
rear portion with the threads and deep enough to be tough. The good
quality rubber parts shrug off rough handling and have a ribbed interior
to cut down on reflections.
Most tulip hoods are plastic, which bothers me less than you. On the
other hand, for fixed focal length lenses, a tulip can provide
significantly better performance than a round one.

How about paper/card stock hoods? The price is right and they are easily
transportable and replaceable. <http://www.lenshoods.co.uk/>
