Today's Question:

Kodak has a metallic paper called Endura that is a wet darkroom
product with a light sensitive emulsion. Is there a way to reproduce
this effect with ink jet printers and appropriate papers?

Tim's Answer:

Based on my experience, the short answer is "no". That doesn't mean
such a material doesn't exist, but I've not seen one that produces the
same effect as the Endura paper from Kodak.

However, you can get a somewhat similar result with the Red River
Silver Metallic paper from Red River Paper (www.redrivercatalog.com).
The only catch is that this paper isn't recommended for pigment-based
inks, so I suspect it won't be a viable solution for you. Their
Complete Sample Kit includes one sheet of this Red River Silver
Metallic paper (and two sheets of all papers they produce). In my
opinion this is well worth the price so you can explore some other
printing options.

If anyone has found a print material that produces a good simulation
of the result achieved with Kodak's Endura paper, please let me know.
However, because of the way pigment-based inks affect the surface of
the paper, I suspect this is not going to be possible anytime soon.
