The DXO rating is interesting in that it removes the camera metering
system from the equation. Therefore, the results have some value
in comparing camera sensor systems.

People can get their underwear in a bunch because of that, but in terms
of rating sensors, it is probably a good approach. Anything that can factor
out something like the metering system from a measurement I think has
value.

But if one wants to translate that into actual use, this is not the measurement
to use. DXOmark is measuring raw sensor performance to be used to
compare various camera sensor systems. If they had to account for
differing camera metering systems they would not achieve that goal.

It is still up to the photographer to determine proper exposure and that
is not the intent of the DXOmark measurements.
