I couldn't recommend it.  I managed to watch it to the end, but I  
wondered at the point of producing so many ghastly images of  
pointless, gratuitous violence so needlessly graphic in its depiction.

You would have to consider it a form of art to appreciate it; but the  
capability to appreciate it passed me by.

I don't like many modern films, but "Atonement" was worthwhile, but  
for the dark depression it induced for around 12 hours.
