Because the population centers are to the south on US 41 and Interstate
75 and to the northwest across Tampa Bay on Interstate 275. Most of the
traffic going north on 41 turns onto I-275 to go west and north to St.
Petersburg or Tampa or east to reach I-75.

I-75 is the truly busy north/south road as it runs from Miami to the
upper peninsula of Michigan and to the Canadian border. It passes near
the major population centers of SW and central Florida, Atlanta,
Chatanooga, Knoxville, Lexington, Cincinnati, Toledo and Detroit. I'll
be traveling that way myself on the way home since I plan to stop in
South Carolina to visit my daughter's in-laws before visiting my
daughter in North Carolina. I'll follow I-75 to Atlanta and then turn
northeast on I-85 into South Carolina. I would normally go home by
traveling I-75, US 301 and I-10 to Jacksonville and then take I-95 north.

I'm traveling to the in-law's house in order to see the photo collage
the kids produced for them as their retirement gift. There are 33 old
4x6 and 5x7 photos spanning their wedding, birth and life of the kids,
the kids weddings and birth of life of the grandkids. I did the
restoration work on all the old photos but have never yet seen the final
product. Nor have I seen the new retirement house. 7,500 square feet
on a large lake. A lot of space for 2 people. :-)
