Question .............. would an Elmarit-R 28/2.8 on an Oly E-510 produce an 
image of exact equal quality to that produced by the same lens mounted on a 
Leitz made Leica camera ? I am not referring to one of those knock-off 
Panasonic branded Chinese made plastic bodies but to the real thing from 
Germany.

If it would, what part in the equation is played by the Leica body other 
than lightening the photographer's wallet?

If it would not, what would the genuine Leica body contribute to the end 
product?

This, to me, seems an interesting question. In the days of film cameras, the 
lens and body in combination contributed to the quality of the end product, 
namely the image.

Today, with mix and match the order of the day how does one disseminate the 
relative contribution of each of the lens and the body to the quality of the 
end product, namely the image?
