It's possible that the end loop of the conveyor will simply shorten  
rather than interrupt because there is a push involved but as you  
say, who can tell for sure.
As the deep, cold currents cycle up deep nutrients like stored  
nitrates and so feed the the fisheries of the world, it has  
significant implications for food stocks as well.
