I quit caring about galleries years ago. I've never had any luck getting a
gallery to sell my work, and when they do they take commission of 50%,
leaving me with almost nothing from a sale after I pay the cost of making
the print, matting, framing, ect. I sell from my website, I keep 100% of the
money (minus the printing costs, etc), and most importantly, I have actually
sold a significant number of photos.

If every gallery in the country died today, I wouldn't give a damn. Every
one I have encountered is mismanaged, cares nothing for the artists they
represent (and less for artists who they don't know, despite the fact that
telling every new artist they meet to f--k off may keep them from meeting
someone whose work might sell). Good riddance.

The fact that I sold more photos from my website last year than in 10 yrs of
gallery exhibits shows that no effort was made by these dealers to actually
sell art. Remember, last year was a BAD YEAR. You know, recession and all.
My exhibiting and gallery experiences were in much 'better' times.
