And to continue in trivia mode, what you see now of Eilean Donan Castle was
built in the early twentieth century - a rebuild on the site of an earlier
castle.

It's a nice day today - webcam views here:

Very great pictures indeed.

Just in case people didn't recognise it, the castle in the shots labelled
"Castle" and "Surrounded" is Eilean Donan Castle (did I spell that right ?).
I have some pics like these somewhere of a trip I took up the West Coast of
Scotland a good few years ago. I really must dig them out ... all on OM
gear, of course.

Trivia moment: The castle was used in several Films & TV programmes.

1) It was used extensively in "Highlander". They used to sell Highlander
Swords in the gift shop. Somewhere there's a picture of a friend of mine
running over the bridge shouting "There can be only one"
and a lot of very scared Japanese tourists running for cover ;-) That was
one coach tour they won't forget in a hurry ...

2) It was used in the James Bond film "The World Is Not Enough". They used
a lot of footage of the inside of the castle, as part of M's control centre
I think.

3) It was used in the BBC trailers that were shown between programmes for a
year or 2 - the one with the hot-air balloons.

It was probably used in many others, it is a thoroughly beautiful location.

Thanx all. I live in Zeist, near Utrecht in the middle of the Netherlands.
These pictures are within 1 km from my home.

The pictures in Scotland were with the e-1, and it's me indeed. Great view,
and a fantastic country. Summer 2006 was very good, that sure helped ;-).

Regards, Frank.

PS I replaced 'White trees' with a 80% compressed one (was 50%). Hope it
doesn't hurt your eyes
