While looking for other things I came across this article concerning the
degradation of media for data storage:

I'd never heard of the titanium disk at Livermore Lab.
Data storage technology changes have us taking data from an existing format and
then pushing it onto the new format. Copy all those VHS home movies to 8mm,
then push them to DVD, and now to then next generation. Chisel into granite is
the next move I guess.
