Chuck,

Thanks for looking and for your constructive comments. As you are aware, 
focusing a manual lens using the E-510 viewfinder is difficult. IIRC, on 
these shots, I used Live View, but not magnified, because I wanted to see 
the full image.  In each case, I tried to focus on the detailed patterns in 
the petals, and depended on f/5.6 to get the rest, leaving the background 
out of focus. While the foreground edges of the petals may not be razor 
sharp, I felt that the eye goes for the details first, and that is what I 
placed emphasis on.

I feel that aperture selection must be a compromise in these sorts of 
photos.  Stopping down more would assure that the front edges are defined, 
but that brings the twigs in the background into focus, and I try to avoid 
that.

Again, thanks for your comments.  I try to learn something from each image 
that I post.
