Actually the star in the photo that sparked this therad off was the
glass not the beer, I can honestly say that I haven't had a really
decent beer now for around 10 years about the time when bottled beer
started to get promoted. When I left the UK it wasn't for swiss beer.
The glass was acquired the night of my stepfathers funeral, I had
written and read my "few words" and I think they were switching to
oversize glasses at the hotel and also rebranding so I decided I wanted
my piece of history, as I explained though I have mitigating circumstances.
The beer in it is Boddingtons "the cream of manchester" which was not
bad when served up in the marriot hotel portsmouth for the year I stayed
there, however from a tin it is not the same although far better than
the local offerings.
