Yes, it's a posing cliché and not one I like either.
It usually looks contrived and unnatural but then, what pose doesn't?
Young women who don't know much about modelling immediately present a
series of these conventional poses which I suspect they 'learn' from
trash magazines. Along with the forced, insincere grimace that passes
for a smile.
Ah well...
