LCE is a bit like selenium, curare, digitalis, lomotil, and so on. At 
the right, limited dose it's, healthy, even necessary, while too much is 
lethal. Also, its effect on larger scale contrast may often be mitigated 
without losing the useful effect of "lifting a veil".

I don't recall for sure, but I think the wood siding has received a 
small dose of LCE, as well as a bit of curves and a dash of sharpening 
after reduction to web size. Because I work with masks, the mix of 
processes and degree of each on any given part of the image may, and 
often does, vary.

I was particularly interested in keeping the character of the siding, 
both because it comprises a lot of the image and because I liked the 
contrast to the other use of wood in the totem.  It also seemed likely 
to me that the design and placement of the totem against that background 
was probably a part of the artist's intention.
