Hi all,

Far away from home but this time I have taken my desk-top machine with
me so I can work on my web-site when opportunity arises.

Some of you, and me as well, noted that this photo

Cromwell.jpg
(actually apricots, not apples) has several unsatisfactory features.

These include; poor focus, lack of detail and saturation in cloud and sky,
blown-out detail in highlit leaves (backlit); and in fact poor detail in leaves
that should have been tack-sharp as the E-510 was firmly attached to a
hefty tripod.

I also took several shots with my OM4Ti and Zuiko 35~105; mostly not on
tripod as it happened, due to the rush to grab a spontaneous shot.

Last week I had prints made, and the detail, contrast and saturation are a
considerable improvement on the digital screen version.

At the very least, it seems that digital can not handle backlit vegetation very
well at all. I came to a similar conclusion after photographing large oaks in
their autumn dress a couple of weeks ago, in a Christchurch park.
